Dominican Republic
The DR occupies the eastern two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola. Haiti makes up the rest of the island.
Despite improvements in recent years, there is still significant poverty throughout the Dominican Republic. Large communities of Haitian people have moved to the Dominican Republic in hopes of a better life, but they have instead been met with challenges.
Spanish is the major language and Haitian Creole
Primary Religion in the area we will be serving is Roman Catholic. Haitian migrants come from the strong practice of Voodoo.
Jamey Davis has pastored for the past 20 years…the last 14 of those years at First Baptist Decatur. Clearwater partnered with FBC Decatur in 2018 on a mission trip to Haiti. Just a few years later the Davis’ moved their family to Haiti. Due to the political unrest in Haiti, The Lord has brought them to the DR. We are excited about the opportunity to work alongside Jamie and his family. Even if you are not able to make this trip this year KEEP praying for The Davis’ and their work in the DR.
